Amazon Prime and Apple Video Strategry Vs Netflix and Disney Plus

I have to say I think Amazon Prime and Apple TV Plus have a better business model long term than Netflix and Disney. This post was inspired by the fact that Amazon will advertise a show that isn’t natively available on Amazon Prime, because they can get a cut of the subscription if you sign up through them to watch it on Paramount Plus. And Paramount will pay the vig because it’s easier for most consumers to pay via Amazon and watch on Amazon prime versus signing up, downloading a Paramount app, and then entering payment information.

Apple TV Plus is the same exact model as Amazon Prime Video in this case.

Netflix can’t make money off of movies they don’t have rights for on the platform, but Amazon and Apple can. That’s a huge deal. If I were Netflix I would immediately try to copy this model. Why can’t I access Paramount Plus from within Netflix if I choose to pay for it?

80sTees actually has a similar business model to Amazon and Apple. We license our own tees directly and try to get lots of exclusives, but we also offer products from our suppliers that compete directly with us. I think it’s the smarter model than trying to offer just one brand.
