Any Marketer That Makes Me Dial In To A Conference Call Service Is Doing Something Dumb

Marketers are doing themselves a huge disservice with conference call services.  Here's how it goes:

Marketer via email:  Hey I've got a great service blah blah blah

99% of the time this email is ignored, but let's go on for the 1% that it works for...

Potential customer replies via email:  That's pretty interesting.  Let me ask you about...

That volleys back and forth and then....

Marketer via email:  Let's schedule a call

50% of the time it ends here because the potential customer doesn't want to get on a call, but let's go on the remaining 1/2 of the original 1%.

Potential customer replies via email:  OK, here are some times I'm available.

Marketer via gmail or ical sends an invite.

But for some reason the marketer wants me to call him!  That's just plain fucking stupid people.  Now I've got to get that reminder and then call in at the right time.  But guess what, I'm pretty busy.  And I get in a flow and time is not even something I think about.

So let's say 50% of people are like me and forget to dial in on time.  So now we are down to 1/4th of 1% of the people who received an email.

Good luck marketers.  Get my number and YOU CALL ME.  It's not a cold call, I'll take it.

Maybe you say something like "But my boss needs to be on the call too.".

DON'T CARE.  That's your problem not mine.
